Races

devices for our students; Started in TRE in August 1990; From the
soldering iron to software programming, from the website, to the
LAN or WAN, customer support online, on phone, and onsite as well
as supporting all our staff, When not running his nitrous hot rod
with his also lead footed wife at Lebanon
Valley Dragway, you can catch him here at TRE hotrodding our
computers. Member of IEEE and Computer
Engineering Association.
Now I'm
running a charity for our US troops deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

David
Grapka, B.A., M.Ed., M.A., ATP, ATS:
Since August of 1990, David has served as the Project Coordinator
of the Technology Resources for Education (TRE) Center, a co-sponsored
project of the New York State Education Department and the Capital
Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES). The TRE
Center Dream Team helps school districts in New York State and beyond
to develop appropriate technology solutions for students with learning
differences, and to implement principles of Universal Design for
Learning.
David has
served as a teacher and administrator at all levels of education.
His professional development interests include using assistive technology
planning as a tool for systems change; implementing Universal Design
for Learning Principles to eliminate attitudinal and funding barriers
that impede progress of students with disabilities; and, exploring
the employee as customer concept to help employees to find and achieve
their mission. To this end, David chairs the BOCES, TaDaa Committee,
whose purpose is to empower employees and customers to make a difference
in their quality of life. David is a frequent presenter at state,
national and international conferences on Assistive and Instructional
Technologies. In his Spare time, Mr. Grapka enjoys drumming and
singing in a local country rock band. |

Our Irish
staff knits amazing stuff while working with the BOCES Special Education
Division Classroom Staff Assisting in the Coordination of AT services
in their classrooms on top of her TRE itinerant duties. Her background
is in OT services.

Gene is
a licensed and certified Speech/language Pathologist and has served
as a consultant with the TRE Center for about 13 years. He has had
extensive experience recommending and using assistive technology
with school age students and adults with neuro-muscular as well
as cognitive and linguistic impairments. Our resident guitarist,
always seems to be singing :-)
